For precision rifles, the medium Palma profile or heavier options are often recommended. Many people are going to say carbon rifle barrels remove more heat but the heat in our opinion is stuck in the lightweight metal barrel and just because the carbon is cool the bore of the rifle does not have a way to dissipate heat. These can be used but bore erosion will happen much quicker at regular high rates of fire. Don’t discount carbon Fiber barrels for occasional hi volume use or hunting use. Just be aware they may wear out quicker.

All quality button barrel manufacturers will consider this and correct their operations.

Cold Hammer Forged: CHF barrels are very consistent because they use a mandrel to pound the steel around it to create the rifling. This creates less carbon dispersion in the barrel, and you can use many different bore profiles. The disadvantage is they are harder to find in a custom barrel as most OEM manufacturers make their own.
