Firearms Returns for Warranty Work
It is legal for you to ship your firearm to our business for warranty work and for us to return it directly to you without going through a dealer unless Detroit Gun Works learns that the ship-from address is a location where firearms are prohibited. You must provide us with a street address for the return shipment and you must be the signer when the firearm is returned. We are required by BATF to have the firearm owner’s signature by UPS for legal return. If the shipped from address is a prohibited location, the repaired firearm will not be shipped until an FFL is nominated to receive the repaired firearm for the owner.
Please contact us for an authorization number to include with your shipping. Use UPS service only. We are not responsible for incoming shipping damage and will contact you if we have determined that your shipment has been damaged in transit to us.
Shipping requirements:
Remove the magazine and all ammunition. You may include the magazine in your shipment but you must remove it from the firearm. Clear your firearm and make sure it is UNLOADED.
Remove all stocks, scopes, mounts and accessories from your firearm unless they were included in the initial purchased product. This will further reduce your risk and save you additional labor charges.
Use a plain outer layer when shipping your firearm, especially if reusing original factory boxes or after-market cases. This will avoid any indication that a firearm is enclosed.
Packed firearm in a manner that prevents movement or damage during shipment. There should be a buffer of at least one inch of packing material between your firearm and the wall of the box.
Look for appropriate shipping boxes and/or packing materials at retailers like the UPS Store or from office supply outlets like Staples. It must ship back to Detroit Gun Works in the case it arrived in.
Returns Policy
You may return new, unopened items within 60 days of shipment for a full refund. If the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.), we will cover the cost of return shipping.
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper. In many cases, you may receive a refund more quickly. Allow transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), processing time at our facility once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If a return is made because a customer is ineligible to own a firearm, and a legal firearm transfer cannot occur, the customer will incur a $500 restocking fee and will pay the cost of return shipping. This also applies to all returns that are not the result of an error made by Detroit Gun Works.

Shipping
All firearms must be shipped to an FFL.
Rifles are made to your customized specifications and go through a variety of quality checks and testing. Please allow 4-6 weeks for shipping – refer to your confirmation email for the most up to date lead times.
All orders are shipped via UPS.
Shipping Restrictions:
Receivers and Rifles – Our receivers and rifles must be shipped to an authorized FFL dealer. A signed copy of the FFL must be on file with Detroit Gun Works prior to shipping any receivers or complete rifles. If we don’t have an FFL for you, your order will be put on hold until it is received. Please email a signed copy of your FFL to [email protected] if you’d like to use an FFL not listed on our search.
Additional Warranty Information
Warranties are transferable with the sale of the Detroit Gun Works bolt action rifle.
Barrels are not covered under warranty for normal wear and tear.
Parts not manufactured by Detroit Gun Works are subject to the manufacturing company’s warranty.
